Vicente Ruiz

Venue: University of Oslo. Physics of geological processes, Norway.

From: May 1st, 2010

To: August 15th, 2010

Vicente Ruiz is asistant professor at the School of Physics, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain.

His research topics are related with paleomagnetic studies (tectonic applications in stable and deformed areas, geomagnetic dispersion analyses throughout Earth History, magnetostratigraphy, rock magnetism, archeomagnetism), mostly applied to Mexico, Iberia and northwest Africa.

During the last years, Vicente Ruiz has lead three research projects focused on the geodynamic implications of paleomagnetic studies in northern Africa (Morocco and Tunisia)

About his work:

"The research topics in which I am interested are:
  • Paleomagnetism, applied to plate tectonics & orogenic belts, Paleosecular variation studies and magnetostratigraphy
  • Rock Magnetism
  • Archeomagnetism"
